Purpose

We hope that Ideate will inspire students from all backgrounds to incorporate design thinking as part of their innovation process and to use it as a tool in their everyday lives. As Duke's annual design-thinking conference, we want to show that design isn’t just related to art and technology. It is a problem-solving method for creating intuitive, meaningful, and ethical solutions that affect all communities and environments.

Our theme of “discover” is meant to celebrate curiosity for learning. As a result, we are emphasizing our speaker sessions, discussions, and workshops. Our conference is meant to be beginner-friendly, and if we can inspire a handful of participants to incorporate design-thinking into their everyday lies, we can call our conference a success.

What platforms will be used for communication?

We'll have a Discord channel and use Zoom/Youtube Live to host and stream workshops and other activities.

When is the deadline to register?

We are accepting applications up to the day of the event! However, you may not get up to date information via email if you sign up later, so we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Will workshops/talks be recorded?

Yes, they will be and uploaded to our Youtube channel @HackDuke afterward. We encourage you to attend them live since it’s a great opportunity to learn and engage with cool speakers (and other students!).
